Popular Destinations in Norway

Bergen

Bergen is known for Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed wharf, and its beautiful surroundings of mountains, fjords, and areas like Folgefonna National Park.

Although it is one of the rainiest cities in Europe, it remains a popular destination, with around half a million cruise passengers going ashore each year. Many explore the city, while others join shore excursions to experience the surrounding landscapes.

Flåm

Flåm is located alongside Sognefjord, the longest fjord in Norway, and is surrounded by steep mountains and scenic landscapes. While it was once difficult to reach, modern tunnels, including the longest road tunnel in the world, have made the village far more accessible.

This allows cruise passengers with limited time in port to explore many iconic surroundings, such as the Stegastein viewpoint, the Aurlandsfjellet mountain road, Lærdal village, and Borgund Stave Church, one of the most iconic and well-preserved stave churches in Norway.

Eidfjord

Since the 2000s, Eidfjord has become increasingly popular with cruise passengers. This small village, with just over 500 inhabitants, can be explored briefly on foot. The main highlight is the Vøringsfossen waterfall, one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls, located high above the Måbø Valley.

Many visitors also explore the Hardangervidda plateau with a guide, offering wide open landscapes and scenic viewpoints. Beyond the main sights, the surrounding area includes several lesser-known spots for those who want to go slightly off the regular path.

Information for Cruise Passengers in Norway

Visiting Norway as a cruise passenger means limited time in port, so choosing a well-planned shore excursion is important. In Bergen, ships can dock at different terminals, which can be confusing, but Maresia always provides clear meeting points and correct pick-up locations. In Flåm and Eidfjord, the ports are smaller and easy to navigate, making it simple to start your tour.

Our tours are designed to match the schedules of major cruise lines such as MSC, AIDA, Costa, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Holland America Line (HAL), Celebrity, and others. This has resulted in a 100% on-time return record over the past four years. We also offer additional flexibility: if your cruise schedule changes, we adjust your booking or provide a full refund, so you can enjoy a stress-free experience.
